Grandmas Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter

  • 1/2 c shortening 3.45 oz

  • 1 c sugar - 7 oz

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 2 c plus 1 T flour (sifted) 10.3 oz

  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions

  • Cream butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat well.

  • Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.

  • Refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.

  • Roll into balls.

  • Dip wet glass bottom into sugar and press ball flat.

  • Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 6-8 minutes in 400°F oven.
